The auto-select tool now supports Shift+click to add to selection and Alt+click to remove from selection.
Fixed a bug in tile edit mode where moving a selection while a layer is active could cause the move to undo itself, tiles to split or disappear, or undo functionality to stop working.
Improved the behavior of moving selections. Fixed bugs where drag-moving caused cumulative movement leading to jumping selections, arrow-key movement caused the selection border to shrink when hitting the edge, and moving auto-select/lasso selections resulted in lost masks and background inclusion.
In the main edit pane’s move tool, Ctrl+Z during an uncommitted move is now recorded in the history as “Undo Move” (redoable with Ctrl+Y). Additionally, opening tile edit while a move is uncommitted will automatically commit it.
Updated the grid size change dialog to support grid sizes other than 48px. The number of cells and image size are now calculated based on the currently set grid size.
Improved new file creation to automatically adjust canvas size for grid sizes other than 48px.
Fixed a bug with the flip operation when multiple layers exist in edit mode.
Fixed an issue preventing simultaneous startup with the main RPG Maker application. You can now launch RPG Maker MV/MZ while this tool is running.
When launching the Tileset Builder, I noticed it starts with a half-finished window size.
After exporting, the list on the left shows the selected preset, but the project tab displays the content of the exported file (e.g., “Dungeon_A1_mv_260717.png” is present). This seems like a bug, right?
At 67% zoom, switching between my registered “Damage_sangoku” and “3_Actor1” (both set to auto-detect) causes the display to jump to 150%. It would be nice if you could choose between fixed zoom or auto-scaling.
The display zoom level doesn’t seem to save the previous state.
When clicking the “x” in the top-right corner, selecting “Save and Exit,” and then canceling or clicking “x” in the save dialog results in exiting without saving. Is it possible to prevent the app from closing if the file wasn’t saved? For example, in Paint, if you click “x” → “Overwrite Save” → “Cancel,” it returns to Paint without closing.
Also, pressing “y” or “n” at that time is unresponsive, so please support these “basic” shortcuts.
Regarding asset expansion, if you plan to add more, please include the 2003 Handbook assets (content of the 2000 Handbook assets + extras. Ideally, like an Add-on Pack for MV, but as a remaster rather than just a simple enlargement). Perhaps offer a Steam download key (for MV or MZ DLC) as a gift in exchange for answering a survey…
The tileset builder should be integrated into the engine itself.
My biggest gripe with RPG Maker is the lack of asset creation tools within the engine itself. You cannot easily create and add assets on the fly. Ideally, I would love to start with an empty tileset and use a built-in image editor to draw floors, walls, and props, having the engine automatically append them to the tileset.
Hidden layers are now protected. Editing operations such as deletion, erasing, moving, and drawing on hidden layers are blocked by default.
Asset Library: You can now delete categories and tags by clicking the “×” button on each row.
Fixed an issue where the paste preview border sometimes remained on the screen even after deselecting.
Improved Undo stability. Fixed the Undo button not responding during tile editing and corrected an issue where actions were not recorded in the history if the mouse was released outside the window.
Fixed an issue where some messages were displayed untranslated, bringing support to 12 languages.
We will continue to implement improvements and reflect user requests.
Please understand that we may not be able to fulfill every request.
We already have a UI editing solution and the previous tileset builder, which is actually an art tool. To be honest, the naming is quite misleading. I’m wondering what direction the new tool will take.
Added a “Reference” tool to Edit Mode, allowing you to edit while comparing side-by-side. You can keep your source material open in a separate window and draw while comparing.
Added “Recent Items” to the File menu. You can now quickly reopen previously opened projects, PNGs, and layer projects without having to search for them again.
Added “Shading” to Edit Mode. You can now apply three-dimensional shading that follows the shape of your painted areas, or create shadows that fall outside the material.
Unified the macOS menu to match the OS menu bar.
Fixed a bug in Tile Edit where undoing actions after performing multiple operations or after closing and reopening a file would sometimes fail.
Regarding the plugin functionality, we plan to publish the API reference after further improving the core features.
We will continue to improve the software to make it even more user-friendly.
