Y'all are crazy for burning down the forum in favor of this vibecoded-looking site.

Well, I’ll try - brought back my generator and game
We’ll see what it gives

Would be nice to get separate sections for MV/MZ/U2U

Where do I post my RPG Maker XP games? All the other versions are inferior!

XPKobold here from the old forums. considering i’ve been there since 2012 from using XP to MZ.
When i heard the forums closing from the announcement was really disappointing especially since a lot of helpful information from years of trial and error to be lost like that unexpectedly.

Really this should have been prepared better instead of such short notice.

If Copyright was really the reason for why you can’t migrate everything in the old forum… Then you have two very simple solutions.

  1. Permanently keep the old site up as an archive (Keeping and saving all the valuable information and community content for all current and future users)

  2. Seeking out and Asking each copyright holder for permission to migrate their works. (If they can’t be contacted, or they reject giving any, then so be it.)

I can see why an Uncaring corporation would not like the second, as its a lot of work and therefor likely quite a bit of money spent, but the first option seems like a no-brainer even so, because RPGMaker survives and at times thrives nearly entirly because of massive community support through the years, and all that backlog is important extensions to Your products that still exist and are being sold (unless you plan to stop selling everything but the newest iteration, all of it will still be important content), everything a user has made and posted has helped sell your products.

Keeping an archive up woulda at least given you a semblance of caring.

But instead you choose to pretty much spite a large part of your community by foolishly destroying decades of past information…

Seems to me that you actually think, in your pride, that none of that is valuable and that everyone will continue to just buy the new without skipping a beat… But on the contrary you may have just lost a large part of your audience, who now truly realize just how much you don’t value them and their contributions.

Clearly the copyright issue is just an excuse for this disrespectful move on your part, perhaps even utter nonsense thrown at us as a way to placate.

To be frank… this option isn’t one. There are how many thousands of users on RPGMakerWeb? Tracking down every single user to get their permission just isn’t going to happen.

Perhaps so.

I do think a simple DM at least woulda worked.

Probably about 80% of users wouldn’t’ve even seen it.

I’m really sad. The old forums were part of RPG Maker history, with so many tutorials, resources, devlogs, and memories… I want to stay optimistic, and I really hope this new forum can bring something good to the community

We’ll see how things evolve between now and december

But still woulda been better done.

In that case I wonder if setting the language up here would give a better experience.

It does fix it, but if I go into an Incognito window, it still defaults back to device language:

Ah fair enough. This place took me a little bit to get used to too. The shock factor is real.

A very inconvenient new website. An ugly, inconvenient, incomprehensible poorly made new forum. I don’t like it at all. There are no words. This move is a crime against the community.

A completely uninformative place. Totally inconvenient. I’m afraid the community will lose many. Probably even me.

It’ll continue to be uninformative until people add information to it.

Hi. Was on the old site and tried logging back in the last… week or so? Couldn’t get in, and well, I wonder if this is WHY. Not letting inactive accounts back in because just gonna ax it soon anyway.

Made this account to say; hate the move. I’m gonna be on reddit or discord because I can’t stand this style of site any time I’ve seen anything close to it, it’s just cumbersome to actually do much of anything here. Heck your activation email didn’t even show up in my normal email, I had to send it somewhere else to get it to show up, wonderful first impression.

Good luck building everything from scratch but hey, maybe GGG is gonna use the time to AI scrape the forums and sell it back to us. Heck, why do we need a community, let’s just get ChatGPT to answer all the questions like FreezeChocolate up there wants to do. We don’t need anyone, just the AI to do it so go ahead and burn the community to the ground, bill us on an AI assistant in the next program.

I will not be giving this place chance to grow because they’ve apparently salted the earth to begin with. I’ll see you guys on reddit.

Edit: you’re kidding me you gave me a BADGE for editing?!?! Shove off.

I am going to give this place a chance for the time being and want to see where this will go. Having said that, I don’t blame everyone for being upset with the transition and it doesn’t help matters that the Guild needs some serious artistic makeover. The original Forum felt welcoming, organized, colorful, and alive as well as it felt as if it was part of the RPG Maker Community, but on the other hand, the Guild feels dead, disorganized, clamped, and flat; that’s my opinion of the original Forum and of the new Guild. The Guild needs more organization (especially more categories and subcategories), and as I stated earlier, it needs an artistic makeover, especially better color schemes and cool-looking wallpapers.

Once again, I’m going to give the Guild a chance, but since GGG and RPG Maker have an official community group at Discord, I won’t be above deleting my Guild account and communicating with the RPG Maker community through Discord if I don’t see any major improvement in the Guild. That’s why I won’t be transferring from the Forum to the Guild my posts about the plugins that I created, for now. By the way, for the record, I would have been OK with the handlers of the Guild transferring my posts (especially the ones about my plugins) from the Forum to the Guild.

Part of me is looking forward to conversing with Japanese members. I wonder if this forum will be able to translate our conversations effectively. I know there has been decades of Japanese people making scripts and plugins for RPG Maker and I will enjoy being a part of that for as much as I am able to do.
And for those that are complaining, I think if they are that upset then they should not have an account here and host their own Forum. Seems logical to me.

So far this has worked out very well on the AGMaker side. English, Japanese, and Chinese have been communicating as if no language barrier. It’s pretty cool!

GGG: I feel like y’all are making a giant mistake on deleting the forums on December 11 and closing them NEXT WEEK, I mean, really? That doesn’t even give people time to pack! 14 years of lost resources on the English side!

I’ve used these ‘Makers’ for over 25 years now- don’t fumble the ball now! U2U/UwU could’ve been great. But if the community dies so do sales.
