Y'all are crazy for burning down the forum in favor of this vibecoded-looking site.

To;Dr check all licenses for all asset you’re using, editing, etc. Make sure the author gives the proper consents you’re needing, etc.

To be a bit tangential and I hope this doesn’t summon certain topics, this is why I avoid using obfuscated code. Because to me adapting is essential, especially when code is doing behavior changes. I’m rarely happy with what someone else did. I want to do what I want to do.

Similar with art assets. I never use them (when I do is for some restriction) mostly because to me is far easier to just start from scratch, because of my workflow. I’d probably go mad if I couldn’t touch a thing!

Tho most things let you do edits for your own usage. Funny enough obfuscation (and compiled code) is the only case that doesn’t.

As things like this keep getting brought up, and the RMW staff seem disinterested in defending themselves, I thought I’d speak up. Honestly them not bothering to respond is probably for the best, as most people have made up their minds. Anyway, I actually do know the reason for Psychronic’s ban on the old forums.

I would not bring this up if they themselves didn’t make a thing out of it. I am not interest in dragging up old drama, but there seem to be people here who are, so I feel it is fair to hear the context rather than hear one side while the other gets slandered and stays silent.

Psychronic was banned for taking paid pack resources, editing them, and then redistributing them for free (not as part of his game), which was against the TOS of those packs, on the Steam Workshop, and then posting about them on RMW with example tilesheets that featured the offending pieces.

I do think you are being disingenuous here, since in that particular case PAID assets were involved. That’s just a big no-no and very hard to defend. You can’t Frankenstein commercial assets and redistribute them. You being okay with this is kinda similar to being okay with piracy. So I would heartily suggest to you to adjust your perception of right and wrong.

Thanks for this, I should have read your reply before typing my own. The thing is not that the (ex-)RMW mods do not care. They are aware of the lies that are going on here, but just don’t want to escalate the situation in someone else’s forum. So thank you for standing up for them.

As far as I’m aware, this really is only true for a handful of cases, like making death threats. Also, you are supposed to read the rules and understand what is OK and not. That the mods often gave a warning was more out of courtesy than anything. Having said that, please feel free to point me to a case in which someone was banned without warning though.

Discussions regarding disciplinary actions taken on the old RPG Maker Forums, as well as their reasons, and any mentions or accusations against specific individuals, are not handled or adjudicated on this forum. Since past circumstances cannot be judged here, we will consider this topic closed.

Honestly I get why they’d be disinterested in defending themselves: Who cares.

They’re not gonna change the minds of the people who feel slighted, and the rest of us in the peanut gallery get nothing by having the discussion continue.

It would achieve nothing. Much like the bellyaching of the people who feel like some grand conspiracy is keeping them down and perpetuating a cosmic injustice.

We have a fresh start here, so why not just all be adults about it and make some games

Imagine how many completed games you’d all have if you devved as much as you bickered about dumb things.

This thread is now locked.

Firstly, the mods of the GUILD are not former forum mods. We are unable to comment on the moderation of the old forum because we were not involved.

Secondly, I have repeatedly asked and told people to not bring up the old drama. Grognard has done so and will receive a warning for violating section 5 of the Terms of Service.

Thirdly, Kuroda warned everyone to change the topic, and since he has been ignored there will be no more chances for this thread.

Thank you for your understanding.
