Since RMW is closing, I’m moving my game to this one. Original post: MV - Yggdrasil Chronicles - A Record of Valkadia (Demo, In-Development) | RPG Maker Forums
The game now features the auto-update system, which helps you update the game automatically when available. You can choose to update to the latest version, or stay with the local version.
Update Oct 09: The game can now be played directly via Web Browser: https://yggdrasil-chronicles-2.pages.dev/
Featuring export/import of save files to play on different devices. You can do this via the Title Screen by clicking on the “Import” or “Export” button at top right corner. The data might load slowly at the first launch, so please give it some time.
Yggdrasil Chronicles - A Record of Valkadia
Early Access Build
INTRODUCTION
-
Yggdrasil Chronicles - A Record of Valkadia is a turn-based JRPG, set in a fantasy world named Valkadia, and also the sequel to Yggdrasil Chronicles - A Tale of Cindrivia. This game is made on RPG Maker MV by Ryan Entertainment Studio
This is the early access version of the game, providing you with the early footage and a better understanding of game mechanics. Please keep in mind that this is just a demo, meaning there are many unfinished features. The game is still in active development. Though this is unnecessary, I recommend you play the prequel game I mentioned above first (If you have not played it) before getting into it.
The product uses little AI, which only helps me refine the conversations and write QoL improvement plugins. Of course, the conversations are all written by me at first. AI only helps correct grammar and make it sound more natural.
-
Basic information:
- The early access version contains:
- 3/4 of the main story, and there are no side quests.
- Charged time battle system (CTB) is the main battle feature. The number of turns is based on how high your AGI is, so remember to allocate JPs to DEX to increase AGI
- Some main features of the game allow you to have a better understanding of game mechanics.
- Two languages: English and Vietnamese, can be changed anytime in the Options menu.
- WARNING: This game contains violence and strong language, suitable for 16+ players only.
- Some instructions for the game:
- Control (Either Keyboard or Mouse):
- Movement/Direction: Arrow buttons or Left Mouse
- Confirm actions: Z, Space or Enter or Left Mouse
- Cancel actions/Open menu: X or ESC or Right Mouse
- Dash/Skip Conversations: Shift
- Circle Tools: Q and W
- Use the selected tool: Alt
- Turn on/off Oil Lamp: 1
- Open command: ~ (Above Tab, and it is not working during battles)
- This game has a simple auto-battle. You can turn it on/off right during battle, or in the Options menu.
- Five (05) Difficulty levels: Very Easy, Easy, Normal, Hard, Very Hard. You can change the difficulty level in your Menu/Options.
- Your characters gain 6 JP per level, used for allocating stats. To access the Stat Allocating window, open your menu and choose “Stat Allocating”.
- Skills can be learned/reset from certain NPCs in Magic Shops, or inside some Churches, Cathedral.
- For TOOLS, to circle between tools, press Q or W. To use the selected tool, press Alt.
- Some items which can be disassembled will be grouped into Breakable Items inside your Inventory. Some tools or quest items only appear after disassembling certain items. To do that, go to your Breakable Items, select an item, and choose Disassemble.
- If you miss something in conversations, you can view the backlog by pressing Tab. It will display the whole conversation from the beginning.
- For certain situations, you have to craft some items to move forward. To do so, gather all required materials, then open Menu/Craft to start crafting.
If you have any questions, suggestions, or bug reports, please contact me here in the comment section
Thank you very much for participating in the early access phase!

DEV NOTE
Currently, I am collecting player data to analyze how players allocate their stat points across actors and balance the game again. So for each boss battle, a .txt file will be generated in the “www/icon” folder (containing information about your actors, equipment, stats, etc.). When you finish the current build, please send me those files so I can analyze them and make changes accordingly.**

The rework for Reinforcement Crystals has been finished. The next build is planned to be released by the end of this month or at the beginning of next month.
Highlighted changes:
- New storyline in Serenus Town
- A total rework of how Reinforcement Crystals stack with each other
- New Reinforcement Crystals
- New story boss
Very cool project! The story is pretty nice so far and there are many intersting systems to customize your characters. Characters are fun too.
!!There is one thing, after starting the second mission (after all the craft/runes tutorials in the home town) during battles I can’t seem to be able to target enemies during combat. Is it something I’m missing or I triggred a bug?
Let me know, I like to continue playing!

Thank you for being so interested in the game. And I’m sorry to hear about the inconvenience you have encountered. Could you use your mouse to target the enemies? I have heard of this from a player, but he could not reproduce it after reloading the game. If possible, may I have your save file and the exact steps to reproduce this issue?
Also, did you try to select the enemies via up/down arrow buttons? If so, could you try left/right arrow ones to see if they work?
ok. Works fine today after opening the game from scratch (yesterday I only tried exit to main menu and load again (so its not on the save file). I don’t remember doing anything special to trigger this.

Glad to hear that. I will keep this in mind and try to reproduce it to see what the cause is when I have time. If you are using Up/Down arrows, they are not expected to be used for target selection, but only Left/Right arrows. Also, the game can be fully played with just the mouse, so if you encounter the issue again, please try to use the mouse to see if it helps.
Dev’s update: The list of new Reinforcement Crystals in Serenus Town has been completed. Now it is time to put the next story boss in its place.
Also, I have updated the crafting scene to show more information about the Reinforcement Crystals used as ingredients. Back then, you had to go from town to town to find where specific crystals are sold, but now you won’t have to do that anymore. The places where they are sold are now displayed clearly under them

Dev’s update: I have spent a week working on an Auto-Update feature for the game and trying to get a test build with it. When using that build, you will not need to manually download future updates. All the new changes will be automatically downloaded from my GitHub repo when you start the game if there is an update available.

Dev’s update: Update 0.0.1 is now available. New changes in this version:
- Add more security to the Auto Update feature, using a HASH check for proper update data
- Fix some tiles that should not be passable in Serenus Town Outskirts
- Fix Aurorite Crystal causing the battle to be stuck if the user is dead before having an extra turn
After starting the game on Version 0.0.0, you will see a pop-up asking if you want to update to Version 0.0.1. The game will automatically update if you agree, or stay on Version 0.0.0 if you deny.
Dev’s update: I was quite busy with the company’s work last week, so I only had a little time to continue developing my game here. There will be another update soon with the following information:
- Continuation of the story to Doctor Niveus’ Lab
- New story boss
- Fixes for some minor issues, or QoL improvement

- Continuation of the story to Doctor Niveus’ Lab
- New story boss and a Headgear
- Fixes for some minor issues, or QoL improvements
This update also includes all previous versions. So if you haven’t updated your game yet, you can still go straight to this one.
Dev’s update: There is an issue that is causing the NPC to get stuck during a conversation in Update 0.0.2, so I have released a hotfix, 0.0.3, to fix this issue. Please relaunch your game to get the latest update.

Dev’s update: I have been working on another QoL improvement, which allows you to track a certain number of quests and show their current objectives right on the screen. In this way, you will not have to open and close the Quest Journal again and again just to see what your current objectives are.
Highlighted features:
- Giving you an option to track/untrack quests. The tracked quests will be colored gold in the list. There is a limited number of quests that can be tracked at the same time.
- You can see your tracked quests and their current objectives on the Tracker window.
- The Tracker window can be scrolled up and down using either the mouse or keyboard.
- The Tracker can be collapsed/expanded at any time, using either the mouse or keyboard.
- If your character is close to the Tracker, it automatically turns transparent so you can see what’s behind.
- If no quests are tracked, the Tracker window automatically disappears
So what do you think of this improvement? Is it necessary?
Dev’s update: One of my dedicated players gave me feedback on the “Analyze” skill, saying that it was not very useful. So I have come up with a plan. Using it on an enemy now reveals all their abilities, giving you more information on how to fight them effectively. And this information will also be added to your Bestiary of the respective enemy!
Some images about the feature. Information is still placeholder.:
Dev’s update: One thing that I wanted to do long before was to hide the enemy’s HP value completely and only showed under certain condition.
Now this will be done in the next update as a part of “Analyze” skill improvement. You will no longer see the HP value of the enemies, but using Analyze skill allows you to see that value of the affected enemy again.
New Version Announcement: Update 0.0.4 is now available. Highlighted changes:
-
New QoL “Quest Tracker”: Now you can choose to track your quests inside “Quest Journal”. Tracked quests’ latest objectives will appear in a small window below the clock, allowing you to know what you need to do next without opening the Quest Journal. The Quest Tracker can be expanded/collapsed freely by using your mouse or [G] button on your keyboard. If you don’t want to see the Quest Tracker, simply untrack all your tracked quests.
-
New QoL “Bestiary & Analyze Improvement”: Now you can no longer see the enemies’ HP value in battle. The “Analyze” skill will help you reveal enemies’ defensive element, HP value, and their available abilities. This information will be added to the corresponding enemies in your Bestiary. You can now drag and scroll, or press the Up and Down buttons to see the detailed information of each enemy bit by bit.
-
In-game Manuals and Crafting windows now also display the correct sky background like all other windows
-
Continue the main story inside Doctor Niveus’ Lab
Known issues: The text turns black sometimes when using the Window Skin “Ancient Stone”. If you encounter this, please switch back to “Steampunk” inside the game options.
If you have already updated your game to version 0.0.4 but still cannot see the “Abilities” section in your Bestiary, please try deleting the file “config.bin” in your game folder and run the game again to reapply the update.
I have also uploaded a new build (26082801) with all the latest updates. You can take your save folder (inside “www” folder) to this build to continue. For the best stability and experience, please download and use this build instead if possible: Yggdrasil Chronicles - A Record of Valkadia (Build 26082801)
Otherwise, you can still stick with the older build.
Dev’s update: I have noticed that the current HUD (clock, gold) takes up too much space on the screen. So I decided to replace them with a minimal HUD instead. Now time and gold will be included in only one HUD and stay at the top right corner of your screen. You can expand/collapse it to see detailed/minimal information. The icon will also change dynamically based on day and night.
