So far I see at least two things that should be corrected

  1. when clicking on a link it takes me to the link’s page in the same window. (using Opera browser). All links should open a new window or tab.
  2. There is no mark as read option that I can see. Unless I go and open every single message, there will always be topics showing as unread.
  3. Why tell me topics are unread? Are these topics I want to read? This was not something we had before on the old English forums. RPGMakerWeb simply highlighted the category as bold and let you go there if you wanted to read the topics. This “Topics 9 new” is more of a discord type thing where I should be notified if there are unread messages. Well maybe I’m not interested in most of those messages so why do I need to be told they are unread. So improvements needed for sure, in my opinion. I’m interested in a community of RPG Maker contributors, not a community of chatty people.
  4. I noticed in one message that you are aware of the limited categories/threads. This was something I was going to bring up as well. The layout and grouping is too condensed. Break the engines apart, allow threads for the different aspects, by engine.

I can reply for the first one, this is an option you can configure to open links in a new tab.

For me, this is how it should be. I hate it when websites decide to force me to open things in a different tab; I prefer to be in control of my tabs.

So, I guess, it’s nice that this software offers it as a setting.

So you prefer to go to a new page and have to click back to return to this site? I find that odd. You don’t like staying on this site?

I wasn’t talking about clicking on a thread and have it open in a new window, I was referring to external links.

It’s like you’re reading your email and click a link and your email goes away for the new page. You have to open a new window/tab or click back to return to your email.

It depends.

I might have the site open in a pinned tab, and have other unpinned tabs that I’m working with. In that case, opening a link in a new tab scrolls the unpinned tabs to the beginning, losing my place.

Or maybe I only opened the site briefly to look something up, so my true goal is the link and I have no intention to immediately come back to the site.

On the other hand, sometimes I do prefer to open in a separate tab/window. But in that case, I can just middle-click, or right-click and select “Open in New Window”. On the other hand, if the website forces a new tab, there’s no right-click option to “Open in Same Tab”.

Thus, I prefer the option that gives me the most control.

Usually I click links with the middle mouse button to open them on a new tab. So to me clicking and it opening on the same tab feels natural. But it’s cool that the option exists.
