Suggestions for RPG Maker Guild

To help make the RPG MAKER GUILD a better place, I have created a thread to compile feedback and improvement suggestions for the forum.

The management will review the feedback received and use it to guide future improvements.

Please note that we are already reviewing requests submitted in other threads, so there is no need to repost them here.

▼ How to Post

  • Please write your suggestions as “replies” (one suggestion per reply helps us organize them more easily).
  • We appreciate it if you check before posting to ensure your suggestion hasn’t already been submitted.
  • Please share your feedback specifically regarding the “Forum (RPG MAKER GUILD)”.

UI overhaul. This UI is basically cancer.

maybe yall could revive some channels from the forum themselves to make things look more organised? i was thinking pages like the “Games In Development” and “Completed Games”, for example. just so it can help people feel better about transitioning from the forums to the guild

Fore AI discloser.

You have a lot people on both sides of the issue, allowing the use but forcing them to disclose that they have done so allows those apposed to keep away from what they view as undesirable while making only minimal impact on those who use it…

Because someone is going to go digging around to find where Jinx stands, mostly apposed. He’s not as allergic the stuff as some, but wouldn’t be caught dead allowing it into his work… Unless the thing in universes was actually meant to be AI generated or something… Not that we can think of a single reason why that would ever be the case…

It would be nice to merge all “I hate this new forum” threads into one mega thread, which I think is a seriously needed cleanup. Another suggestion would be to setup some more sub-categories under the main RPG Maker category or at least add descriptions, what is Showcase for? Is it for games, software, in-development plugins, assets, what?

The rpg maker guild logo on the home page is always black and hard to see(on Firefox at least) and not to mention a dark logo never looks good on a dark background, so having this fixed would be nice too.

Tags like Royalty Free, Paid Content, No AI, Used AI, would help with searches too.

To me, the Guild definitely needs a graphical overhaul! As it is (even with the official logo at the top), the Guild doesn’t feel like that’s related to the RPG Maker programs. At least, a wallpaper (like one of the ones that promotes a RPG Maker program, for example) should be used as a background instead of the different color mode backgrounds, which would be a good start in the graphical overhaul. Also, as ltngames pointed out and for the sake of organization, there should be more subcategories; some of these subcategories should also have their own subcategories, like it was done in the Forums.

Purely a suggestion: Maybe reach out to the Mods from the old forum and get their moderation notes.

By forcing that community to move to a new place where that banlist is no longer enforced you are giving a lot of people who caused issues previously opportunity (and, effectively, licence) to harrass and cause issues unchecked in an entirely new place. Crucially, you are forcing interactions between people who have previously been forcibly separated, which strikes me as potentially dangerous - especially for vulnerable or protected categories of people.

I don’t count myself among that group, but it’s a concern I think we should at least address, even if to say: “Actually, those incidents are in the past and are no longer relevant, a new forum means clean slates for all”.

It is worth noting, however, that I’ve had several people express concerns seeing members who have harrassed them or perpetrated hatred against them in the active user list here.

To be clear: I’m absolutely not saying people should be banned purely as a result of having been banned on a previous platform without any new reason, but context and continuity of information in this kind of community engagement goes beyond “oh no all the threads about X plugin have been lost”.

So yeah, TL;DR - bringing over context and continuity of infrastructure beyond the curation of an archive of the forum’s posts would be my suggestion!

Locking threads for “Harassment, slander, threats” seems like a bad way of going about it.

The slander is still there, anyone can read it, but what changes is that now nobody can reply to correct it. I think that just makes it worse.

The author should probably either get a warning with the thread remaining, or if it’s serious just deleting the thread outright.

For those who haven’t seen it, I’m talking about how this thread was handled (and for the record, while I can’t speak about the allegations of what happened outside the forums, on RMW the sentiment towards VS was generally rather negative, and I’ve never seem anyone punished for sharing those opinions).

Yes, this is exactly the kind of thing which the previous moderation notes would have also prevented. Losing that context has the potential to be devastating, as bad actors can now bend the narrative to suit their purposes.

Context is everything, and if people are going to continue their petty feuds and agendas across new platforms, it’d be good for the Guild staff to at least be aware of them, so we can all benefit from more informed decision making.

( ̄^ ̄)ゞ Feature Suggestion:

A hide/ignore button (or option) on user profiles. That allows us to hide posts & comments from a particular user.

Most websites now implement it this way: where the user who you have set to be hidden, all of their messages appear collapsed, hidden or minified on your end. And to read them, you have to intentionally click on a ‘+’ (plus/addition) sign to uncollapse / reveal them. (Like the ‘if’ conditional event command in the RPG Maker MZ Editor.)

This way, it makes it easier for people who have a hard time getting along, to easily ignore each other on the forum.

Thank you thank you! o(≧▽≦)o

So you want them to import the biases from the RMW’s moderation team? Terrible idea.

Nobody’s “forcing interactions between people who have previously been forcibly separated” here. We’re here because we want to be here.

If anyone misbehaves, they should be judged according to their actions here, objectively, and without involving personal vendettas.

I would like an option in preferences to remove all of the AI buttons.

For example, here:

And here:

And even here:

Y’know what, you’re probably right. And like I said I’m not advocating any actions be taken against people for their previous infractions.

All I am suggesting is the mods here having context. Reputations exist for a reason, and from what I’ve seen on this forum already, I feel like people should probably know where we all stand.

VisuStella and Yanfly admitted to using unauthorized open-source code in commercial plugins, legally compromising their products and exposing buyers to inadvertent copyright violations.

Admitted by themselves

When Restart exposed this

Server owners quickly banned Restart from several major RPG Maker hubs. This effectively killed his free FOSSIL plugin, eliminating a free MV-to-MZ porting alternative that competed with their commercial products.

Remember fossil? Plugin that RPGM developers talked about on their official twitter account:

Past issues on other platforms show that censorship and conflicts of interest drive communities apart.

My suggestion for this forum: please be careful about which people you hire for the moderation team here. I can guarantee that people from VisuStella will try to get onto the moderation team and run their shenanigans here as well, just like they did on the RPG Maker Web forums.

Please, please, please do not allow this to happen. Keep this forum unbias and neutral.

P.S All information is publicy accesable, discord chats (channels with public invites), links information (public information made to be available to everyone), public profile avatar, public twitter/X tweet.

I’m not saying that, all I’m saying is the new mod team would benefit from the moderation notes of the old team.

Why is that contentious? I agree we should have an unbiased and fair space for everyone to communicate in good faith.

That said my first post here got immediately reported by bad actors so y’know - apparently it’s cool to use forum tools and automod to try to silence people you disagree with so long as it’s not against your ‘team’.

Hypocrites gonna hypocrite haha

I really like this new layout. It doesn’t bother me at all, but I would like the option to delete topics I create if they get too heated. I have been part of RPG Maker since 2003, and no matter where I go, I always feel welcomed.

Suggest adding a setting to “Open post in a new tab”

IIRC there is an option in your profile settings or something, to make links open in a new tab.

EDIT: Found it! Interface > Other > Open all external links in a new tab. Hmm… tho idk if that’s only for links going outside of the forum. I just use middle mouse click anyway.
