Suggestions for RPG Maker Guild

There is a small disadvantage here, in that I’m not sure if there’s a good way to view posts that are directly in RPG Maker with no subcategory added, without also viewing all the subcategory posts.

Yeah, that’s a thing. Maybe there’s a filter that I haven’t found, but yes afaik you’re correct. IDK if people should be allowed to post at root RPG Maker anyway but… so far yeah that’s a limitation.

Oh another thing while we’re on this, I just noticed that this filter doesn’t let me pick multiple options.

(Just in case since not everyone reads all threads ever, I’m using an extension for customizing CSS locally, please don’t mind my forum looking different xD).

I would like a little more categories to make everything a littler easier to follow.

Thank you for your many comments.

• We are cautious about deleting entire topics that have gained traction, as doing so would also remove replies from other users. If a discussion becomes too heated and unmanageable, please contact the administration. We will take appropriate measures, such as closing the thread (disabling replies), depending on the situation.

• We have added “Mute” and “Ignore” functions. We hope everyone can use the platform peacefully as much as possible.

• Since hiding AI features would affect either a specific group or the entire site, we will hold off on this for now.

• It is difficult to implement a setting to open forum posts/topics in a new tab (though this is possible for external links). Please use the right-click menu to open them in a new tab.

• For engines, you can filter by tags for versions 2000, 2003, XP, VX, VXACE, MV, and MZ. Please make use of this when searching or creating threads.

• For topics related to graphics and music, please use the “Assets” category.

• We will continue to improve the tags in the left sidebar.

• We have created categories for “Games in Development” and “Completed Games.”

• We are also considering improvements to the site’s decoration (characters, backgrounds, etc.).

• Regarding support for profile image opacity, we will check whether improvements can be made.

• We have received your request for an FAQ section regarding the forum and will consider it.

Thank you all for your feedback!

“Showcase” newly separated “Completed Game” is supposed to be specified by engine tag, but you could not select the engine by tag.

Yaaay! ⸜(*ˊᗜˋ*)⸝ Thank you thank you! Adding the option of a timer was a very intelligent decision.

New Feature/Patch Suggestion: (」°ロ°)」

When I copied the link to my English post from here, to share on social media platforms. It embeds in Japanese instead of the original (English) language:

On X/Twitter:

On Discord:

…if you could please fix this so that it embeds in its original language. Or, if we can somehow grab or create an embed for a specific language. (⇀‸↼‶)

Thank you thank you.

Thank you for your feedback.
I have updated the engine to allow selection via tags.

Thank you for your report. Here is how to address the issue.

When you post a regular link, the preview is displayed in the site’s default language (Japanese), so even English posts are embedded in Japanese. Due to the specifications of the social media platforms, it is not possible to automatically set this to “original language via regular link.”

However, you can display the preview in a specific language by appending “?tl=(language code)” to the end of the URL.
English: False Arcade Project (Game Collection)
Japanese: False Arcade Project (Game Collection)
Chinese: False Arcade Project (Game Collection)

Please use this format when you want to share in a specific language!

That’s actually clever. I assumed it wasn’t fixable just due to how metadata is added to websites, and that’s all embeds use to cache the embed, they just open the site and search for the metadata tags, which afaik have zero multi language support.

Didn’t think about asking the server for different versions of the page hahaha.

Thanks for the information.

I’m not sure if this is already somehwere and I simply have poor navigational skills, but is there a ‘commission’ section, and if not, can one be added?

If there is already one, is there a pre-requisite to view that sub-forum? I know RPGMW had a post count requirement from what I could remember.

It’s one of the primary reasons I joined RPGMaker Web years ago—to pay people to help make plug-ins I’d like to have for my project.

If it does exist, and I’m blind, can I get some direction, please?

Aside from that, I do dislike how corporate this forum looks. There’s zero personality, and everything feels too minimalist (?).

It might just be my age, but I adored the older feel of RPGMaker Web’s design. It didn’t have much, but I appreciated the classic forum layout. Maybe I’m just old and bias, haha.

Thank you for your feedback. I will address each point one by one.

[Regarding Requests (Commissions)]
We currently do not have a dedicated section for “Requests,” nor are there any requirements such as a minimum number of posts to view one. To help with this, we have introduced a specific tag for requests. When posting paid requests for plugin development or calls for collaborators, please attach the “Request” tag (or “commission” for English posts) to your post. Posting in categories like “Plugins” will make it easier for others to find your request.

We are also positively considering creating a dedicated category in the future, depending on demand. Please note that any transactions involving compensation are the sole responsibility of the parties involved.

[Regarding Plugin Searches]
If you are looking for plugins to use in your own projects, we highly recommend using Plugin Finder. It allows you to search for and browse plugins compatible with MV and MZ directly in your browser.

[Regarding Design]
We have received similar feedback and suggestions regarding design from other users as well. We completely understand the nostalgia for the classic atmosphere of the old forum. We are currently reviewing improvements to the site’s decoration (including characters and design elements) and plan to implement them gradually.

Please continue to share any observations or suggestions you may have.

Its not a bad idea, but I think the mod team is now too busy with spinoff projects and such. Or just enjoying a vacation.

Though I think most of us want to give everyone a new start on any new site. And I think GGG wants to do the same.

Still would be worth looking as if nothing else could give GGG suggestions? I think we all want RPG Maker to do well, no matter what we all think of the move and the current state of the site. Thats why we are here on this chat even, to improve it!

I think this would be a good idea! Andar used to have a topic on that but it was made back in the VX/VXAce days, and it went over basics that were (mostly) the same in all engines. A modernized version showing the newer engines could be a good idea?

thank you for your swift answer. for what I meant regarding transparency, its Every image in the forum do not support Alpha/ transparency.

Literally unusable without Harold

This post is simply too long. Why not add a pagination feature to jump to the last page and view the latest content?

There are almost no tags and categories. There should be a category for each version of RPG Maker. The UI is very hard to navigate and it feels more like a wannabe discord server than a forum. The home screen is overly minimal. The home page on the RPG Maker forums shows several different places to go along with several other places to post such as making profile posts. Overall it seems this whole website is very underdeveloped and is in no way suitable to replace the RPG Maker forums in its current state.

Hey all, to clarify: there’s 2 teams overseeing the forum at this time:

While it’s not as strictly delineated as the terms imply, we have operation and mods!

The mods are content and behavior control, while it’s operation who actually change the categories, layout, and other changes people are looking for. And yes, there are people who technically fill both roles.

The two groups do chat with each other and communicate feedback, but a mod like me isn’t creating new forum categories or anything. I just make sure the ops people have the information needed to make decisions.
