Which game that made you decide to use RPGMAKER and make your dream game?

I only knew it has a PS2 version which is pretty different to the original Saturn/PS1 version.

But yeah, apparently (according to Wikipedia and peeps here) there’s Baroque Shooting and Baroque Syndrome. You probably already know about these. I just need to digest this because this series is bigger than I thought!

Reading a bit more seems that Baroque Syndrome is a visual novel based on a novella made as a prequel to the original Baroque, called Baroquism Syndrome.

Then Baroque Shooting, a 2D top-down shooter, set in the same universe.

There’s also Baroque Typing. You can guess what this one is about.

Baroque FPS for iOS.

And BAROQUE ~ Become a Meta Being for iOS, 3D top-down action platformer— Jesus Christ how many Baroque games exist???

yes the ps2 version is different than the original.

I did not play the other spin offs of baroque games because I BELIEVE they are not very important to the plot unless I buy them on sale.

I really want to play baroque syndrome but I don’t like playing in JP and try to check the translation in another tab unless there’s a way to install translation in game?

Mmm… for me it was just a lot of curiosity from a 12yo brat dreaming to create a new world

I don’t know if it was related to RPG maker on pc at all, but rpg maker 3 on my ps2/ps3 was my gateway drug, not a game, but the engine itself.

Just to add to this again, you might like Planet Laika, Kowloon’s Gate, and Linda Cube Again if you haven’t tried them already. They’re all ps1 games with English fan translations too (Kowloon’s Gate just recently got translated) really unique and convoluted experiences, some of my favourite game stories.

Interesting choices I might check them out. As for Linda Cube Again I saw a gameplay of it.
I just found a game called wachenroder (I don’t know anything about it but it looks good)

In my case, the game I’m developing is heavily inspired by Final Fantasy VI. Before I started developing my own game, I spent several years making FF6 ROM hacks as a hobby. I even released one a few years ago called FF Jobs.

The turning point came while I was working on my last ROM hack. I realized I had spent hundreds of hours adding new features and mechanics, rewriting events, and making so many changes that I thought, “Why not put all this effort into creating my own world?”

That’s when I decided to stop making another hack and start developing my own RPG.

RPG Maker made it surprisingly easy to prototype ideas inspired by both classic '90s RPGs and more modern ones like Bravely Default. The event editor also felt very familiar because it reminded me of the FF6 hacking tools I had been using for years.

Looking back, making FF6 ROM hacks was probably the best preparation I could have had before starting my own project. Final Fantasy VI’s ensemble storytelling and the way it develops a large cast of characters have had a huge influence on my game.

Final Fantasy I and Dragon Warrior 3 pretty much solidified for me the perfect gaming experiences.

Secret of Mana was both my introduction to RPGs and the initial creative spark of my own work.

Most of my games are based on Etrian Odyssey. This game has a class system, where each class has its own unique characteristics.

However, Etrian Odyssey is a very difficult game, especially against FOG type enemies. If you don’t know their weaknesses, it will be very difficult to defeat them and will consume a lot of resources.

* The version sold on Steam appears to be significantly easier to play than the original.

I got into RPG Maker when I did some playtesting for Memorabilia, a TTRPG I was designing, and a player mentioned it would be better as a video game. At the time, I stumbled upon a video on Fear and Hunger and this is how I learned about RPG Maker. Now I am working on my first commercial game with this.

For me it was Destiny Warriors. I found the game by chance and after learning it was made with RPG Maker, I set out to learn to make my own games.
