I’ve been testing some heavy processing in RPG Maker MZ, and it’s running stably at 60 FPS. However, when opening or closing menus, the frame rate drops slightly to 59 or 58 before returning to 60. The movement feels smooth. I’m not sure what the standard is. I’m planning to buy U2U, but how does its processing speed compare? I’m curious.
Should be better, I suppose
I see. I’m looking forward to it.
From my experience, I think you shouldn’t rush.
In the early stages, engine releases often have problems and are unstable. This isn’t just true for RM, but for other engines as well. Very few are good right out of the box. From my observation, it usually takes about 6 months to a year for the engine to become more stable.
Trust me, you can continue using MV/MZ for a long time, but if you want to test it out, I won’t stop you.
A dip to 58 or 59 for a frame or two while a menu opens wouldn’t worry me at all. That’s the moment MZ creates the windows and draws all their contents, so I’d expect a small blip there, and if movement feels smooth to you that’s really the test that matters.
On U2U, since it isn’t out yet nobody has real numbers to compare against. It’s built on Unity instead of MZ’s HTML5 and JavaScript setup, so I’d expect it to behave differently, but I’d wait for the release before drawing any conclusions about speed.
Thank you.
I see.
Thank you.
Yes, Baz’s response is currently all we can say at this time. More information will get released as we get closer to the release date!
