How do I change the name box text color based off classes?

Hello, I need to figure out how do I make name colors change based off specific classes? I’m using classes for colors so like blue class gives blue name etc. etc.
I tried looking at Visustella’s message core plugin but it seems to just bunch all classes to one color which is NOT what I want.

Maybe this is a too simple solution. You can make some variables with color values. E.g.
Variable 001 10 (default red)
Variable 002 11 (default green)
Variable 003 12 (default blue)

Variable 001 contains the color code for class 1, Variable 002 contains the color code for class 2, etc.

When showing text, you can put (nest) the color code in the name field like this:

\C[\V[1]]Reid

Reid is now displayed with color 10 (taken from variable 001).

If you want to change the color for class 1, you only have to change the value of variable 001.

that actually sounds like it’ll work! I’ll check that out, thank you so much bro!

So looking at this again, it might not work because if someone chooses a class then I won’t be able to have their name match that it’d just be variable 1 2 whatever, and I don’t think I want to manually do that for EVERY text box as it’s a VERY text heavy game

What if @Martin’s variables were per character instead of per class? So Variable 1 is always Reid’s name color, whatever class he ends up with. Wherever the player picks the class, add a Control Variables right after the Change Class command that sets Variable 1 to that class’s color (12 for the blue class, etc).

Then Reid’s name field is always \C[\V[1]]\N[1], which shows actor 1’s name in whatever color his class set. It’s the same text in every box, so you can copy paste it instead of deciding the color each time. If he ever switches classes later, you’d just set the variable again at that point.

i realize what you mean now, kinda! reading through this i realize slowly what you mean, i’ll try, im still new to learning about how variables work lol

No worries, they click after you’ve used one a couple times. If the class gets picked from a Show Choices, it could look something like this:

◆Show Choices: Blue, Red
: When Blue
  ◆Change Class: Reid, Blue
  ◆Control Variables: #0001 Reid Name Color = 12
: When Red
  ◆Change Class: Reid, Red
  ◆Control Variables: #0001 Reid Name Color = 10
◆End

Then any time Reid talks, put \C[\V[1]]\N[1] in the Name box of the Show Text. You can also rename Variable 1 to something like Reid Name Color in the variable list so it’s easier to keep track of.

which variable setting do i use?

I got it working!! Now to change the colors

Congrats! Any more questions feel free to ask.
