I really don’t know how to describe it, but I want it so the game is a wide png and you use your mouse to look left, right, up or down if its needed, something like that, Idk how to do it, pictures dont scroll and parallaxes just loop endlessly and I really hate that, and I don’t know what to search up for this either, please help
EDIT: A good way to know what I’m going for is Club Penguin’s PSA missions except you use edgescrolling to look around instead of click a button to turn
I think you can get pretty close to that without a plugin. The piece you’re missing is a map that scrolls over a parallax that doesn’t loop.
Make a new map the same size as your png in tiles. MZ tiles are 48 pixels, so a 2400x960 image would be a 50x20 map. Put the png in img/parallaxes and add a ! to the start of the file name, like !lobby.png, then set it as the map’s Parallax Background with both loop boxes unticked. A ! at the start of the name makes the parallax move exactly with the map instead of sitting still or looping, and since the map doesn’t loop, the camera stops at the edges of your picture. If you want to read more on that trick, try searching RPG Maker parallax mapping.
For the edge scrolling, a Parallel Process event on that map can watch where the mouse is and scroll the map:
The 48 is how close to the edge the mouse has to be, in pixels. Leave Wait for Completion off on the Scroll Map commands. Last thing, make the player transparent and start them in the middle of the map, since the camera follows the player whenever they move.
The loop boxes only control whether the parallax scrolls on its own. The picture itself always repeats to fill any space it doesn’t cover, so I think what you’re seeing is the map being taller than the png.
The map size should be the png’s size divided by 48. For example, a 1920x480 image would be a 40x10 map.
The other catch is the game screen. MZ’s screen is 816x624 by default, so if the png is shorter than 624 pixels, it’ll still repeat above and below in game even with the map the right size. In that case I’d change Screen Height in Database → System 2 to match the png’s height, and lower UI Area Height to match it too.
