I discovered RPG Maker thanks to a magazine CD-ROM, issue #38 of Top Games Special published by
Digerati. At the time, my old PC couldn’t run either RPG Maker 2000 or RPG Maker XP, so I spent most of my time playing the games included on the disc.
Years later, after getting a better PC, a friend introduced me to Chars XP, a character generator based on the RPG Maker XP RTP style. While researching it, I discovered Vila Makers, a Brazilian RPG Maker community where I downloaded resources and utilities for game development.
I officially joined the RPG Maker community in 2010 under the nickname “Vash” inspired by the protagonist of TRIGUN. Around that time, I also created the
Vash Maker blog to share my work. Over the years, I watched communities grow, disappear, reappear under different names, and saw many friends leave the hobby.
Even so, the communities helped me improve my skills considerably. Some of the Brazilian communities I participated in included
Santuário RPG Maker (later became
Arena Livre);
Mundo RPG Maker;
Condado Braveheart (formerly Vila Makers);
Grandes Makers;
Reino RPG (later became
Red Potion);
Dungeon Makers;
Centro RPG Maker, I made many friends there.
For me, RPG Maker has always been a hobby. Looking back at unfinished projects, lost hard drives, team projects that never reached completion, and resource packs that never gained traction, I realize I always created things for fun rather than profit or a professional career.
Today, I have returned to the community with my
Pixel Art. My goal is to release new resources, update older works, improve my artwork, and start fresh projects. I still enjoy being part of this.
