VX/Ace run like a power point presentation [modern hardware]

Hey, I’m using VX/Ace to test things and noticed it runs like a slideshow.

CPU 9950x3d

GPU RTX 5090

96gb ram

9tb nvme storage

This isn’t a hardware issue, since other RM engines run fine. Well, maybe not in full screen (XP becomes unplayable in full screen), but MZ/MV seem fine.

Any fixes?

XP becoming unplayable in fullscreen sounds normal xD. But it surprises me that XP doesn’t have the same issues as VX/Ace.

What is your screen’s refresh rate? Maybe VXAce specifically has issues with refresh rates not divisible by 60?

I think it is a hardware issue, just not because of lack of resources. Some hardware configurations just happen to have quirks, especially with older software.

One option is to try using something like mkxp-z. Basically a binary replacement. See if that helps with the issue. Because usually the issue is just that as time goes on the older engines use older APIs that might not behave as well.

solved by open rgss suprisingly…

Born from the love towards the engine.

Again, it’s kind of inevitable. Sometimes it just amazes me how stable RM2000 is despite its age. And to an extent, RGSS still behaves kind of okayish? The only thing that kills them all completely is the fullscreen, but that’s because Windows 11 (maybe 10 too?) broke it on purpose, pretty much.

There’s also the rare situations where it breaks for some other unknown reason, like yours.
