Hi! We run DailySounds, a free sound effects library: https://dailysounds.org
There are 1,165 sounds so far, with a new one added every day. For RPG Maker games, you’ll find menu taps and error buzzers, pickup and level-up chimes, a treasure chest sound, 8-bit sword swipes, a magic poof, hits and explosions, footsteps on stone, doors, horror stingers, animals, rain, and other ambient sounds. Each sound has its own page where you can preview it in the browser and download it, with no account required and no download limits.
They are free to use in commercial games. Credit is appreciated but not required; just don’t re-upload or sell the raw files as a sound pack. License: Sound License — Free for Personal & Commercial Use | DailySounds
The downloads are in MP3 format, but RPG Maker MZ/MV plays sound effects from .ogg files, so you’ll need to convert them first. Using Audacity (free):
- Open the MP3 (File > Open).
- Go to File > Export Audio, select “Ogg Vorbis Files” as the format, and save it in your project’s
audio/sefolder. - It will now appear in the Play SE event command and in the Database’s sound effect list (System tab in MV, System 1 in MZ).
To convert an entire folder at once, you can use ffmpeg from a Windows command prompt opened in that folder:
for %f in (*.mp3) do ffmpeg -i "%f" -c:a libvorbis -q:a 4 "%~nf.ogg"
MV only: On phones and tablets, MV plays .m4a files instead of .ogg, so a mobile build also requires an .m4a copy of each sound with the same filename.
Hello! We operate DailySounds, a free sound effects site (link is above).
There are currently 1,165 sound effects, with one added each day. Available sounds include menu decision and error sounds, item pickup and level-up chimes, treasure chest opening sounds, 8-bit sword swings, magic poof effects, hits and explosions, footsteps on stone, doors, horror stingers, animals, rain, and other ambient noises. Each sound has its own page where you can preview it in the browser and download it, with no account registration or download limits required.
They are free to use in commercial games. Attribution is appreciated but not mandatory. Redistribution or sale of the raw files as a sound pack is prohibited (see the license link above).
Downloads are in MP3 format, so you will need to convert them to OGG for use in Tsukuru MZ/MV. Using Audacity (free):
- Open the MP3 (File > Open)
- File > Export Audio, select “Ogg Vorbis” as the format, and save it in your project’s
audio/sefolder. - It will then appear in the Event Command “Play SE” and in the Database’s sound effect list (System tab in MV, System 1 in MZ).
For batch conversion, you can also use the ffmpeg command above. For mobile builds in MV, you will also need .m4a files with the same names.
