Soul Catapult's "Elements" series (E1-E7)

(Summary from my Itch page)

Soul Catapult’s “Elements” series of role-playing games (abbreviated E1 - E7) tells an emotional tale of broken people who find wholeness in each other. When others forsake them, they band together and become their own family; I want to convey this message of unity and the healing power of love more than anything. With a special emphasis on heartwarming interactions, deep relationships, and personal growth through adversity, it is my hope that you take from these stories a renewed compassion for others, and a passion for the future of the human race as a whole. Together, we can do this… that’s the core ideal!

The numerical order of the series is not the same as the chronological order (E3 is first in the timeline, for example, while E1 is in the middle), so while they all have similar themes and common currents running through them, it’s not necessary to play them in order. Think of it as something of a puzzle, where each title gives you a glimpse of the overall plot, being just as relevant as any other; you can start with any piece, but only by putting it all together can you obtain the complete picture.

Background

Conceived in the early 2000’s, my early ideas coalesced in the form of seven installments, each tackling a particular “Virtue” and “Evil”. The first game, Elements: Soul of Fire, was first released in December 2013 (and more widely in 2014-2015) after being worked on for seven years; development originally began on May 24th, 2006. I decided to release Elements II: Hearts of Light in the form of an episodic Early Access title between 2016 and 2018. In the end, the story was cut short due to developmental difficulties and other personal issues in my life at the time.

I’ve since “relaunched” the series via my Itch page as an anthology of titles being developed concurrently. The original Soul of Fire is currently unavailable, but will be re-released as part of the forthcoming remake, Elements: Spirit of Flame. The story of E2: Hearts of Light is being continued in The Rest of Eternity, which recently entered its “early access” phase. Lastly, there’s Elements Zero: Cave of the Infernal Dragon, which is a dungeon-crawling side story that’s meant to be played repeatedly to experience the different modes and obtain high scores.

I thought it best to create one bulk topic instead of spamming each installment, though perhaps I can create other topics for individual games as I complete them. Right now, I’m drawing pretty close to the first release for Elements III: Dance of the Heavens, which comprises the first four chapters of the story.

Well, I hope you enjoy my work!

I’ve moved the screenshots/video I added to this post, as they didn’t show in the translations (I made the initial post before I had basic privileges).

Elements III: Dance of the Heavens

As mentioned, E3 is first in the timeline, yet one of the most technologically advanced despite its 1330 NCE timeframe. It revolves around a group of extraterrestrial Watchers who assume human form, descending to earth with intent to intervene in humanity’s self-destructive behavior and save the dying planet. Its signature gameplay systems include a lunar calendar with astrological signs, “cosmic alignment” class-changing system, and Zemini Gen cards that confer various beneficial effects.

Elements II: The Rest of Eternity

E2: TRoE continues the story of Maire, a little girl who developed psychic abilities at an early age, and her mentor Hiram. The early chapters recount Maire’s abandonment and the subsequent trial against the church for their persecution of gifted children. The game contains many bonus features, including pet adoption and underwater treasure hunting via the submarine, as well as “Attribute Augmentation” skill trees.
