[MV/MZ] Particle Editor — Place fire, smoke, sparkles, fireflies and snow on your maps (live editing during playtests, 5 presets, Light Editor support)

Hello everyone!
I’ve released Particle Editor, a plugin for RPG Maker MV/MZ.

Feature Overview

  • Live editing during playtests: press F6 to open the editor, then click the map to place an emitter. The preview updates as you move each slider.
  • Five presets: Fire, Smoke, Sparkles, Fireflies and Snow
  • Full control per emitter: start and end color, blend (additive or normal), rate, lifetime, speed, direction, spread, gravity, wobble, size, opacity and spawn radius
  • Works with Light Editor: place it below Light Editor in the Plugin Manager and particles glow above the map darkness.
  • Undo/redo, automatic backups and JSON export. No image files or other plugins required.

Development Background

Once Light Editor could put light on my maps, I wanted movement next: a crackling fireplace, steam rising from a meal, a village under falling snow, fireflies in a night forest. Building these effects one by one with events and images takes a lot of work.

With Particle Editor you place emitters directly on the map and tune them while you watch the result. Saving changes only a tag in the map’s notes, so your events and tiles are not touched. Emitters outside the screen pause automatically, which keeps maps with many particles light on performance.

Screenshots use the RPG Maker MZ sample maps.
