Hello everyone, I have released a new map. If you would like to take a look or are interested in my map, please click the link below :
This kind of stuff is really mind boggling to me. I don’t know if I’m just the wrong audience or what, but I really want to know who would spend money on some RPGMaker maps. Making maps, especially like these, does not take any exquisite expertise. Anyone can make a simple interior. I want to know why you’re selling these and why anyone would buy them.
Some people find mapping difficult and would prefer to focus on other aspects of the game making, so there’s definitely a market for premade maps. I would probably be willing to spend money on maps, though most likely commissioning someone like Miss Nile for custom-made maps rather buying pre-made maps.
Still, these maps in particular don’t quite measure up to the quality of even the sample maps bundled with the engine. There’s a lot of empty space and they’re a bit lacking in spice, plus they violate geometry with the wall heights.
You actually answered your own question: you are just not the target audience for this. People buy ready-to-use maps not because they lack the ability to make them, but to save valuable development time. For developers who want to focus 100% on programming, writing, or music spending a few dollars to skip the tedious mapping process is a massive shortcut. The asset market exists for efficiency, not just expertise, Thanks for the feedback.
Thank you for the honest and constructive feedback! I really appreciate you pointing out the specific issues with the wall heights, empty spaces, and geometry.
As a growing creator, this is exactly the kind of feedback I need to hear. I am currently reworking the layouts to fix the wall logic, tighten up the empty spaces, and add more atmospheric details to ensure they meet a better standard.
Maybe I was a bit bitter… Like you me and everyone else said, I am not the target audience. I saw this and was like, “say what?”. I have not dived into this kind of this kind of thing and decided to ask about it since it was right there.
I see now. I’m glad my comment could be somewhat useful. Keep having lots of fun. I’ll make sure not to be as mean to people.
It may also make sense to sell these sample maps in much larger packs, so that lazy dev you’re trying to target could just rapidly scroll through your pack for whatever map fits their needs. MZ comes prepackaged with nearly 300 sample maps for comparison
But on the other hand, Casper Gaming’s map packs come in sets of 5… which is still more than you have here, but nowhere near MV/MZ’s default collection.
