Fray is an RPG Maker MZ plugin that draws the fight into your party’s own art. Every hit a hero takes leaves a mark on that hero’s face and side view battler. A blade grazes a cheek or tears a sleeve, a blow leaves a bruise or a dent in armour, fire scorches cloth, ice frosts it, lightning leaves a flash burn, and poison or darkness leaves a sick olive bruise. The kind of mark comes from the element’s name, so a database with its own elements still works.

As HP drops past 75%, 50% and 25%, the hero looks more spent: the skin drains toward a cold pallor and grime sinks in, and at the last band a battler’s coat frays at the hem. The marks stay after the battle. They show in the menu, on the status screen, in the next fight and in the save file until the hero rests. A healing item lays a plaster or a bandage over the worst mark, and Recover All at an inn clears everything.
There is nothing to draw. Fray finds the skin, cloth and armour in each image from its own colours and paints every mark as pixel work on a copy, including every motion frame of the sv_actors sheet, with each mark held on the same part of the body. On a face, skin marks stay on the cheeks and never touch the eyes, nose or mouth. A notetag turns it off per actor, and three plugin commands let an event wear, mend or dress a hero.
The plugin and its art were made with AI tools and tested in the engine. It costs $12.99.
