Top-down character faces right

I am creating a top-down project, but the player character always starts facing right, which is causing issues. Even when testing with a project stripped of unnecessary elements, the default is still facing right…:joy: Am I missing some setting…?

Scene creation → Start point setup → Top-down character template creation (gravity was 1 for some reason, so I changed it to 0) → Registering four directions using AnimatedSprite2d → Importing into AnimationPlayer via plugin → Assigning animations to the player object → Assigning only the animation category in VisualScript

That’s the procedure; I haven’t done anything else extra.

Just in case, I also set the default mark to face downward in AnimationPlayer.

I haven’t touched VisualScript much.

By default, if no display direction is specified, the system is configured to face right.

How about creating an action such as “initial” before “idle” and specifying the animation display direction “downward” for the state property assignment?

The transition from “initial” to “idle” would be unconditional.

I see, so it was the specification! Is it because the standard for side-scrolling games is to the right? :face_with_monocle:

I’ll try implementing it by preparing idle separately. Thank you very much.
