That's not what I'm trying to say here

There aren’t that many people interested in RPG Maker…

To be precise, there’s no one around me who’s interested. Well, I don’t have friends, so it’s only natural that there’s no one around me. From what I’ve seen in other forums and chats, most people seem to be gamers rather than creators.

It takes a certain amount of patience to finish a single game, and the way you enjoy making games differs from the way you enjoy playing them, so it’s understandable. But it’s sad that I have no one to exchange ideas with about Maker.

RIP Maker Forum.

At least from the English-speaking side of the internet, I don’t have much issue finding other game developers. Finding developers who are good at being consistent with their craft while still being socially available to fraternize with, might be the hard part.

Time to put up ‘Free RPG Game Development lessons’ posters and gather interested people!!! (Either lessons or ‘club’)

It’s important to note that we aren’t unique, and there are a lot of other people who are in a similar situation we are in, and feeling the same way as we are. So when you put out a poster like that, you give people an opportunity who are in similar situation to you, to come connect with you. Connecting with you would be meaningful for them, just as it is meaningful for you.

RPG Maker has a huge, active community. But since it’s mostly used as a “cookie cutter” rpg game engine, there are only so many things people can talk about before the conversation repeats itself.

This website’s community is still small, but it’s pretty cool that with the translation tool we can communicate with more people than we could before. It takes patience to build a community too, hopefully over time we’ll get more people here.

IRL I was just surprised when I found people that knew of RPG Maker, it was either people at college from IT careers (?), or now at work it’s easier to find since we do game dev, lol. I think it is generally not easy to find in the wild people that make games.

So finding communities was definitely the easy way, since it was already a place where people with the interest reunited, usually by googling random stuff. Let alone the fact that online communities allow people from any place to reunite, as long as they can deal with the site’s language. You can at least defeat the limitations of physicality.

I had some luck (?) with my languages too (both native and self-taught). Spanish has good reach, with people from both Latin America and Spain. But definitely English is the one where you find basically people from anywhere.
