I sometimes get this error when playtesting my game.
I don’t know what is causing this.
I think that message comes from RPG Maker MV’s decrypter. It shows up when the game thinks its images or audio are encrypted and a file it loads doesn’t start with the encryption header. So I’m wondering if one specific image or sound is causing it, which could explain why it only happens sometimes.
A few questions so we can narrow it down. Did this project ever come from a deployed or encrypted build, or did you copy any files over from one? Do you have any .rpgmvp, .rpgmvo, or .rpgmvm files in your img or audio folders?
It would also help to know if it happens at the same spot each time, like a certain map, battle, or sound effect. If you press F8 during playtest right when it happens, the console might show which file or plugin it was loading. A screenshot of that would be great.
The error has happened on different maps before. And the game is a deployed one from the engine. I also encrypted it during deployment. I’m so not sure about this but it may help; The error shows when random encounter is about to happen. When the BG music stops and a battle is about to load. I think the error shows during that transition.
That helps a lot. Right when a battle starts, the game loads the battle music, the Battle Start sound, the battlebacks and the enemy images, so I’m wondering if one of those is the file it’s tripping on. Does it seem to happen with the same enemies each time, or any battle at random?
Does it ever happen when you Playtest from the editor? Playtest uses your original files instead of the encrypted ones, so if it only shows up in the deployed copy, I think the deployment is the problem rather than your project. In that case I’d try deploying again into a brand new empty folder.
Also, did you do anything to the game after deploying, like pack it into a single exe with Enigma Virtual Box? I found one report of this error popping up at random during battles after an MV game was packed that way.
So far the error have happened on maps that have random encounters. I packed deployed project into an exe with the Enigma virtual box.
That could very well be it then. Before changing anything, try running Game.exe straight from the deployed folder, the one you packed, and get into a bunch of random encounters. If the error never shows up there, it’s the packing and not your game.
If that’s the case, I’d share the deployed folder as a zip instead of a single exe. That’s what the dev in the other report ended up doing too.
Thanks, I will do what you said,if I find any problems I will let you know.
