Over the Shoulder is an RPG Maker MZ plugin that shows your party from behind in battle. Every walk sheet already holds a back view and the plugin uses that row, so there is no new art to draw.

Your actors walk in, step up, lunge on an attack, recoil on a hit and collapse when they fall. There are three stagings: a line, a rank into the distance, and a duel on raised discs with enemy HP plates. 50 floors are laid to the horizon and tinted toward your battleback, and Auto picks one from the file name. Eight themes cover the plates, commands and battle messages, with your faces in the medallions. A camera follows the action and the party turns round at victory.
What it leaves alone: skills, states, damage formulas, troops and your enemy database stay MZ’s, in a side view or front view project. It draws no weapons, and there is no catching or type chart because the duel is only a layout. A rough back row stays rough at three times the size, and a notetag takes hand drawn art.
Compatibility: it is tested with the stock scripts only. It extends 30 core methods and replaces none, but while a battle is staged the plugin draws the actors itself, so a plugin that changes MZ’s side view actors will not show. It is not tested with VisuStella Battle Core, and while that plugin is on Over the Shoulder stands down and says so in the console.
