Frequently Asked Questions

Q A
What is Godot Engine? Godot Engine is a free, modifiable, open-source game engine released under the MIT license. For more details, please visit the official website (https://godotengine.org/).
What is the difference between Godot Engine and ACTION GAME MAKER? ACTION GAME MAKER is built on top of Godot Engine, adding proprietary features such as visual scripting, a database, and scene transitions. Godot Engine itself is an open-source application released under the MIT license, which permits forking to create commercial applications like this one.
I don’t know what to do. We recommend starting with the tutorials.
What is the difference between the translated and untranslated parts? All features added by ACTION GAME MAKER are translated by our company. However, for areas that use Godot Engine’s native features, we rely on the official Godot Engine translations, which may contain untranslated sections.
Adjust Jump is not working. You need to configure the Adjust Jump settings in MoveAndJumpSettings.
Settings items in VisualScript are not working. Please verify that the currently open tab and the object with the attached VisualScript are the same. Since VisualScript references the data of the currently open tab, opening a different tab will prevent it from retrieving the correct data.
After changing the main scene in Project Settings, test play stopped working. In ACTION GAME MAKER, scene transitions are managed via core.tscn. Please leave the main scene in “Project Settings” as “res://core.tscn” without changes, and configure the start scene using scene transitions instead.
Object filters are not working. Due to its internal mechanism, filters only apply to Sprite2D or Polygon2D objects where the Inspector’s CanvasItem property “Use Parent Material” is set to ON. Please check this property.
Objects under UIObjectRoot in the exported game are misaligned. This is a known Godot Engine bug that occurs in some older environments when using the Forward+ renderer. You may be able to work around this by switching to compatibility mode or making the affected objects children of an object that displays correctly.
After moving files, VisualScript stopped working. Due to a limitation in Godot’s design, VisualScript references data by specifying paths as strings. Therefore, moving files will cause them to stop functioning properly. Please use MissingCheck to verify references and make the necessary corrections.
The character is not moving. Please check the following three points: Is “Control via Controller” enabled for the GameObject you want to move? Is it placed in the Player group? Is the control node set in the MoveAndJumpSettings node?
Images do not display correctly after loading the sample project. The project may have failed to load properly. Please try reloading the project from the menu.
Objects that were destroyed by an action are reappearing. The respawn condition in BaseSettings after destruction may be set to “when the camera leaves the view” or “when the scene switches.”

While the introduction is based on the premise of a side-scrolling action game, I would also like a tutorial for the top-down view, so-called top-view games.

Thank you for your request.
We apologize, but we do not currently have a tutorial for top view…
However, we have sample projects for top view, so we hope you can make use of them.

  • Menu Sample Bazelot Quest
This is a sample game that includes all the key elements of a top-view action game.
  • Topview Project Base
This is a fresh project with only the initial settings configured, designed to serve as a convenient foundation for creating top-view base games.

We would like tutorials and manuals for visual scripting as well. We want to know not just how to use them, but also in what scenarios they are used, and how to apply them to game scenes and nodes to achieve specific goals.

We hope that tutorials and manuals will continue to be expanded in the long term. We ask that you address the diverse needs of users ranging from beginners to advanced users.
