[MV - Early Access - Indevelopment] Yggdrasil Chronicles - A Record of Valkadia

Since RMW is closing, I’m moving my game to this one. Original post: MV - Yggdrasil Chronicles - A Record of Valkadia (Demo, In-Development) | RPG Maker Forums

The game now features the auto-update system, which helps you update the game automatically when available. You can choose to update to the latest version, or stay with the local version.

Yggdrasil Chronicles - A Record of Valkadia

Early Access Build

INTRODUCTION

  • Yggdrasil Chronicles - A Record of Valkadia is a turn-based JRPG, set in a fantasy world named Valkadia, and also the sequel to Yggdrasil Chronicles - A Tale of Cindrivia. This game is made on RPG Maker MV by Ryan Entertainment Studio

This is the early access version of the game, providing you with the early footage and a better understanding of game mechanics. Please keep in mind that this is just a demo, meaning there are many unfinished features. The game is still in active development. Though this is unnecessary, I recommend you play the prequel game I mentioned above first (If you have not played it) before getting into it.

The product uses little AI, which only helps me refine the conversations and write QoL improvement plugins. Of course, the conversations are all written by me at first. AI only helps correct grammar and make it sound more natural.

  • Basic information:

    1. The early access version contains:
      1. 3/4 of the main story, and there are no side quests.
      2. Charged time battle system (CTB) is the main battle feature. The number of turns is based on how high your AGI is, so remember to allocate JPs to DEX to increase AGI
      3. Some main features of the game allow you to have a better understanding of game mechanics.
      4. Two languages: English and Vietnamese, can be changed anytime in the Options menu.
      5. WARNING: This game contains violence and strong language, suitable for 16+ players only.
    2. Some instructions for the game:
      1. Control (Either Keyboard or Mouse):
        1. Movement/Direction: Arrow buttons or Left Mouse
        2. Confirm actions: Z, Space or Enter or Left Mouse
        3. Cancel actions/Open menu: X or ESC or Right Mouse
        4. Dash/Skip Conversations: Shift
        5. Circle Tools: Q and W
        6. Use the selected tool: Alt
        7. Turn on/off Oil Lamp: 1
        8. Open command: ~ (Above Tab, and it is not working during battles)
      2. This game has a simple auto-battle. You can turn it on/off right during battle, or in the Options menu.
      3. Five (05) Difficulty levels: Very Easy, Easy, Normal, Hard, Very Hard. You can change the difficulty level in your Menu/Options.
      4. Your characters gain 6 JP per level, used for allocating stats. To access the Stat Allocating window, open your menu and choose “Stat Allocating”.
      5. Skills can be learned/reset from certain NPCs in Magic Shops, or inside some Churches, Cathedral.
      6. For TOOLS, to circle between tools, press Q or W. To use the selected tool, press Alt.
      7. Some items which can be disassembled will be grouped into Breakable Items inside your Inventory. Some tools or quest items only appear after disassembling certain items. To do that, go to your Breakable Items, select an item, and choose Disassemble.
      8. If you miss something in conversations, you can view the backlog by pressing Tab. It will display the whole conversation from the beginning.
      9. For certain situations, you have to craft some items to move forward. To do so, gather all required materials, then open Menu/Craft to start crafting.

DEV NOTE

Currently, I am collecting player data to analyze how players allocate their stat points across actors and balance the game again. So for each boss battle, a .txt file will be generated in the “www/icon” folder (containing information about your actors, equipment, stats, etc.). When you finish the current build, please send me those files so I can analyze them and make changes accordingly.**

The rework for Reinforcement Crystals has been finished. The next build is planned to be released by the end of this month or at the beginning of next month.

Highlighted changes:

  • New storyline in Serenus Town
  • A total rework of how Reinforcement Crystals stack with each other
  • New Reinforcement Crystals
  • New story boss

Very cool project! The story is pretty nice so far and there are many intersting systems to customize your characters. Characters are fun too.

!!There is one thing, after starting the second mission (after all the craft/runes tutorials in the home town) during battles I can’t seem to be able to target enemies during combat. Is it something I’m missing or I triggred a bug?

Let me know, I like to continue playing!

Thank you for being so interested in the game. And I’m sorry to hear about the inconvenience you have encountered. Could you use your mouse to target the enemies? I have heard of this from a player, but he could not reproduce it after reloading the game. If possible, may I have your save file and the exact steps to reproduce this issue?

Also, did you try to select the enemies via up/down arrow buttons? If so, could you try left/right arrow ones to see if they work?

ok. Works fine today after opening the game from scratch (yesterday I only tried exit to main menu and load again (so its not on the save file). I don’t remember doing anything special to trigger this.

Glad to hear that. I will keep this in mind and try to reproduce it to see what the cause is when I have time. If you are using Up/Down arrows, they are not expected to be used for target selection, but only Left/Right arrows. Also, the game can be fully played with just the mouse, so if you encounter the issue again, please try to use the mouse to see if it helps.

Dev’s update: The list of new Reinforcement Crystals in Serenus Town has been completed. Now it is time to put the next story boss in its place.

Also, I have updated the crafting scene to show more information about the Reinforcement Crystals used as ingredients. Back then, you had to go from town to town to find where specific crystals are sold, but now you won’t have to do that anymore. The places where they are sold are now displayed clearly under them

Dev’s update: I have spent a week working on an Auto-Update feature for the game and trying to get a test build with it. When using that build, you will not need to manually download future updates. All the new changes will be automatically downloaded from my GitHub repo when you start the game if there is an update available.

Dev’s update: Update 0.0.1 is now available. New changes in this version:

  • Add more security to the Auto Update feature, using a HASH check for proper update data
  • Fix some tiles that should not be passable in Serenus Town Outskirts
