Sorry to interrupt but looking for more information

ggg_kuroda posted this some time back about a change in the archiving method :

However, to him/her or any mods in the know, can you confirm the answer to my question? I imagine there is a translation barrier that prevented me from understanding them.

My question about the knowledge finder is this: Is this to work in the interim while RPGM Web forums is closed and awaiting deletion or will the forum data remain in an archived state where the knowledge finder can work in say the next 3 years from now.

Grateful if I can get a response to this question.

From what I understand, that message from the team was letting everyone know they’re still adjusting how the old forum content will be archived. They’ve narrowed down some candidate options but haven’t settled on the final method yet, so I don’t think the specifics you’re asking about (interim only vs staying accessible a few years out) have been decided.

I know waiting on this isn’t ideal, but they did say they’re prioritizing it and want to share details as soon as they can.

Fair. I’m only asking because I replied to the post and didn’t get a response. I understand things are still in the works but given the situation, I think a lot of people would see the current situation with the web forums closing in a different light, if there was a follow up response.

In any event, thanks for the information. While waiting isn’t ideal, I can at least wait with hope rather than wait in confusion.

I apologize for not being able to provide an answer yet.
We are currently checking and coordinating on what options are available.
However, there are aspects that cannot be decided solely by Gotcha Gotcha Games, so please allow us some time to respond.

Thank you for following up, Baz.

I understand the situation and followed the company long enough to be aware of it’s prior obligations. I’m thankful for the response because despite the other company (not sure if I can speak their name) being noted as responsible for the current forum on the closure post, they haven’t responded to my email and i would imagine any other email they received on the old forum, which sucks from a customer perspective.

Hello mods, is there any new information on the archive?

Also I didn’t want to make a new thread but it seems that in the information on the closure of the old forums, there is incorrect information telling people to contact Komodo with regard to the closure of the web forums. I emailed Komodo ever since the closure post went up and the support team told me that the email only handles store inquiries. Can someone get in touch with whoever has the account and maybe delete that line since it’s inaccurate?

Who should users contact for inquiries?
For inquiries regarding the current forum and its closure, please contact KOMODO:

Thank you for this notice. I will confirm this situation as soon as I can, and we will update whatever needs updating. It’s after business hours in Japan, so please be patient while I wait for the confirmation.

I understand. Just kinda bummed since it took Komodo this long to respond. At least it seems something is being considered at the GGG level.

Thank you for letting us know.

I have conveyed your requests regarding the closure of the old forum to the representative at Komodo.

Regarding the archive, I apologize that I cannot provide further updates at this time. The reason is that we need to verify matters outside the scope of Gotcha Gotcha Games’ ownership, meaning we cannot proceed based solely on our own decisions.

We fully understand everyone’s feelings and will provide an update as soon as we have more information.

Sorry Kuroda, I figure that you may not have an answer for me now but do know that I intend to follow up monthly on this. I’m not certain whether GGG fully understands the value, at least I place on the information on the old forum and while I understand its something to be worked out with a former partner, I do think it should have been a consideration.

Ultimately though, I just need a final answer to help me plan for future, whether its without the old forum or with it.

Thank you for your comments.

We fully understand and appreciate your regard for the information accumulated in the old forum. We recognize the value of the technical knowledge and insights you have built up over the years, and we take the preservation of this content as a matter that deserves serious consideration.

Currently, we are coordinating with our affiliated company (the former operator of the old forum) to explore whether it is possible to archive the posts from the old RPG Maker Web Forums.

However, this issue cannot be decided solely by Gotcha Gotcha Games. We need to address matters concerning the rights associated with the posted content (including rights belonging to the posters), which requires careful consideration and is taking time to resolve.

Once our discussions are complete, we will provide clear information regarding the handling of the old forum. We appreciate your patience.
