Hello there ! It’s been a long time since i’ve been on RPG Maker, after i shattered my sanity while trying to bring my dream game to life, and noticed it wouldn’t be possible, even if i worked on it 24 hours per day. (Lack of resources, sprites, etc …)
Strangely, one of the sprites i needed at that time, was released by a random creator like … 6 month after ? HA HA … (FML) And a lot of new resources also got published, resources i could’ve used at that time :')
Anyway … Now i’m going with a project that is way, way, way smaller, and easier.
I just want to create “Adventures” or small stories all attached together by a big OVERWORLD. Basically, the player would walk on a point of interest in the world and trigger an adventure/story, for example the story of a character for the party.
When it comes to a Light Novel, this structure is easy to make, you just have to attach each scene/event together like a line, but … How to do that on RPG Maker ?
Here is my vision : The player triggers the “chapter” and goes to a Visual Novel style story telling with characters/images/music displayed on the screen like any VN, but i’d like to have RPG style combat in between those scenes.
For example, the player and their party arrives, meet someone, and boom, combat triggers. It would be also needed for the player to be able to access inventory and RPG menus while in the Visual Novel part of the game, so they can prepare for what’s coming next (Heal party members with potions, for example, craft, etc …)
Or maybe i should add “Rest Points” ? Before continuing with the VN style story-telling ? After a combat, the player just have a rest-point in RPG style ?
I’m not an English speaker so i hope i explain myself correctly.
Also … This forum is HORRENDOUS compared to the one we’re about to lose. Would it be possible to make it LOOK and MORE USER FRIENDLY ? Because damn, it’s just. Bad :')
