I’m probably going to get some pushback for this, but I think we all need to take a step back and calm down.A lot of people are saying that the new site (GGG) is shooting itself in the foot, but I feel like some of the criticism is doing the same thing. I haven’t seen the Japanese community complaining about this change. Yes, the old forum has tons of resources and guides, but there’s nothing stopping people from copying and sharing that content here if they want to.The goal seems to be bridging the gap between communities. Japanese users make RPG Maker games too, and this is an attempt to bring everyone together into one larger community. I’ve heard plenty of negative stories about how toxic and dramatic things got on the old forums, and I don’t think that’s something we want to repeat. It’s honestly surprising how respectful and civil the Japanese side tends to stay. At the end of the day, we’re all just using the same tool. No one has the right to make demands or be rude to the other community. We can disagree and still be civil. Acting aggressively right now will only prove the idea that the English-speaking side can be unnecessarily toxic. Let’s try to do better.
That’s right, I support you. The old forum had its drawbacks too. We need to face them rather than argue. Nobody likes arguing. I support you.
youre right! we should never protest against bad decisions, and always just accept whatever terrible things are forced upon us. why dont we all peacefully accept the fact that were expected to back up 14 years worth of tutorials, plugins, and assets in a span of 6 months, which is a literal impossible task, for the sake of migrating to a forum that isnt even fully translated yet? hooray!
To add, a lot of the new threads that are made on the old forum (or any RPG Maker community), are people inquiring about the same things that have been asked about, before. Where the person posting did not take the time to look up or do a google search about it.
A lot of the responses to such a post, are people repeating what they have already said somewhere else, or referring them to where it was answered before, or telling them to look it up themselves or just insulting them (this being prominent in the old English forum, specifically).
So, given that not many people look things up, and many people just ask. It’s not as dire as people are making it out to be. To the health of the community that already doesn’t look things up (or benefits from already available knowledge out there).
The community in the old English forum are (generally) also quite against anything AI. So they’re complaining oblivious to the fact that- for many questions they (or the new generations of users) might have, or things they want to look up, AI LLMs can answer & guide them through it now (apart from the fact there are more communities now). We’re not in the same landscape, needing the forum for technical assistance as much (with regards to older, established RPG Maker engines).
Can we stop behaving like children
I’m more of the opinion we ought to be more respectful in how we address… the literal devs of the tool we use & love.
It just shows that for many people, that they are uncaring if they upset or enrage the very people who develop the tool we use.
They are human. Their emotions affect & infect what they create… for us.
So even when it’s tough, we want to be respectful & address them with gentleness. ( ´ ▿ ` )
Very well said.
I think the main point of my post might have been missed. People absolutely have the right to protest, but being nasty or aggressive about it usually doesn’t help win others over. What I meant is that we should respect Japan’s company decision. The issue is happening , and they have their own laws and authority to make these choices. As far as I know, we don’t live in a one-world government, so demanding that another country do what we want is usually not very effective — unless there’s already a strong outcry from within Japan itself, which is a big “maybe.”At the end of the day, it can feel like we’re trying to tell someone else what to do with their own child, and that’s rarely productive.
Sorry @BenkuCain but you seem either very misinformed or ignorant of the issue.
No one is making demands of the other community, unless I missed some new post. The RPGMW forums was originally made when RPGM was released to the western market, meaning it was a resource for those that spoke English and found difficulty weaving through the other language denominated forums. The ire that you’re seeing is due to the short sighted-ness of whoever made the decision to delete what is considered a treasure trove of information by many. I’ll say that I don’t really expect the Japanese communities to understand as I’m not familiar with them posting to that particular forum. I agree with you that people should take a breath and try to vocalize their frustration with the decision, better. However, that doesn’t take away from the fact that deleting +10 years of content IS asinine. Especially when the information that exists on the forums can potentially solve issues for as long as the RPGM engines are being sold.
@SigmaSuccour While I get your opinion that not many people look things up and many people just ask, I beg to differ. If anything, I argue that this is particularly the case for anyone new joining the forums. As a previous mod for an mmo forums, I can tell you from experience that many people often aren’t reading the rules of the forum before they make their first post. However, with as many compatibility solutions that I’ve found for Yanfly plugins and other solutions for those I’ve helped on the sub reddit through fiinding old forums, I find it egregious to support deleting the forums. Disabling new content and new members? Fine. Archiving so others can view? Perfect. Deletion? Asinine.
@Durant This has nothing to do with being ignorant or misinformed. I have been part of this community since 2003. I’m sorry my opinions and views don’t align with everyone else’s — not everyone is going to agree. People just need to get used to others having different opinions. This was about conduct. I have many other places I go for information. RPG Maker forums are not the only RPG Maker forums out there. Heck, there are tons of other sites and resources. No one is even mentioning that. Parroting what’s on the RPG Maker forums… half of this seems to me like people are just upset because this is a new thing. So no, this is about being civil for the most part. Thats all i will end on im not one for back and forth. I said my peace.
I’ll double post here and leave it to the mods to clean up. I disagree that we should respect Japan’s company’s decision. Does GGG have the right to make choices based on their laws and authorities? Yes. However, I don’t live in their home country and my license says nothing of being held to Japan. I think you are being short sited. No one is asking GGG to rob a bank. We’re asking GGG or Komodo (who actually owns the old forums) to not delete the data. At least not right now. Especially since Komodo will still maintain the store. It doesn’t make sense that Komodo keeps the store up while the repository of information for the products they’re selling gets deleted and disappears into the wind.
If its about conduct, then focus on the conduct. Say that the swarm of new posters are breaking the code of conduct for the forum.
Also, you’re missing my point. BECAUSE YOU DIDN’T USE THE FORUMS DOESN’T MEAN NO ONE ELSE DID. IT DOES NOT MEAN IT DOES NOT HAVE VALUE.
So sure, we can agree to disagree. I’m speaking to you because while I think you’re right on the behavior of some of the forum posters I believe you are incorrect on the impact this has on the communty. Yeah, there are a million other resources out there and now, people like me now needs to track them down. That’s an inconvenience that I’m willing to voice is a disservice to me as a customer and a member of the RPGM community.
Enjoy your day!
@Durant Bro, you’re thinking way too much about this. All I was saying is be kind, rewind, be nice about it at this point i have no idea what you’re on about.

Well one thing that you can say about me so far is that I have been very respectful, in our conversation. Also note that most of things that you haven’t understood were based on things you posted. If you need me to clarify “anything”, show or tell me what and I’ll try to explain it to you like you’re 5.
@Durant This is exactly the conduct I’m talking about—reverting to childish behavior. I think I’m done here. You have a wonderful day. I have not insulted you once. You called me ignorant, misinformed, and wrong, and you’re trying to force your own will on me. Good day.
I admit that I said that you were misinformed, ignorant to the situation and incorrect with your opinion. You may perceive them as insults but I have yet to insult you. I have been fully open to discussing the topic with you in earnest but for whatever reason, it is you that feels offended. Fine. You probably feel how the majority of us felt now reading that the RPGMW forums were being closed with a days notice, then with posting disabled in a week and finally deleted in 6 months.
No one tried to force anything of you. I attempted to get you to understand why there are a bunch of posters disagreeing with the decision to delete the forums. You are entitled to your opinion but I would caution you on sharing it, especially when you may lack the information to back it up.
Not sure of your timezone but once again, enjoy your day.
With that out of the way, I will see how this pans out and hope the community can grow more.
AI hallucinates things almost as often as it gives reasonable answers. There’s a good reason a lot of the people on the forum dislike AI – there’s been a history of people showing up and asking for help with some code they got from AI that very clearly doesn’t function and could have never functioned.
Using AI when you don’t have a basic understanding of programming won’t get you anywhere. It’s technically possible to get some value out of AI, but only if you already have enough understanding to know when it’s hallucinating. Even then, in some cases you’ll get the answer faster if you just ask a person. (Depends on the question, obviously; the further it is from something that someone has done before, the less likely AI will be able to help you with it.)
I sincerly doubt the community will stop growing. The question maybe whether the west assimilates with the eastern community but I think the key answer to that will depend heavily on the east and GGG’s stance on AI use as well as the status of the web forum’s data in 2027.
I will note that I won’t be posting any content on here as long as they have AI integration in the website (or that suspicious clause in the terms of service). I may post links to externally-hosted content, though – depending how active the place is once the furor of the move dies down.
Might I suggest you take a look at the tileset builder recently placed on steam.
Ai can never replace human ingenuity ever.
