Question on AI Stance

I saw an article this morning on another game engine’s stance on AI related code and wondered if GGG maybe taking a similar stance in future. I am not saying that they should or shouldn’t but I thought it was an interesting article and made me think on RPGM since GGG is publishing in future.

For those interested in the article, see below:

The issue with Godot was, that it’s an open source engine that the community contributes in. And so a flood of people were contributing to it using AI-generated code, which was causing bugs in the engine, that the people generating code weren’t knowledgeable enough in coding to pick up and fix on their own. Pushing the burden of it to the Godot team.

RPG Maker is not an open source engine in that way. We’re not able to contribute to the RPG Maker editor.

GGG’s stance, regarding us using AI-generative content (where their assets & code is used) is something they shared here:

Basically, we can use AI when it comes to making our own games. However, we can’t train an AI on their content.

Thanks for the link. I wasn’t familiar with their site, nor was I actually aware that there was already a statement on AI. Fair points on the Godot engine.

Unpopular opinion: I myself will not use AI for anything, but at the same time, people shouldn’t be limited in carrying out their dreams.

my stance is this.

As long as you understand, and scrutinize what it generates this is acceptable, what is not acceptable is just accepting what it gives you.
